19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his maiden title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from March of 2023.

The win also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an better service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet saved four initial chances in a close third set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
